Harrison County Fair 2007

Board members Karolyn Mangeot and Sharon Hinkle enjoyed their night at the Habitat for Humanity booth at the Harrison County 4-H Fair on July 31. Adults were encouraged to guess the number of building tools in jar for their chance to win a $50 gift certificate from Limeberry Lumber. Children played a game of Koosh ball toss for candy and a chance to win a Golf Shores party for five! Thanks to everyone who stopped by, visited with us, or filled out a skills survey. Your support is appreciated!

HFH of Harrison Co. is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.

Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - 'sweat equity' - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.
